What will the office visit be like?
Our practice is committed to providing you and your family with safe, gentle, high-quality dental care. We understand that you, or your child, may feel anxious about visiting the dentist. We are sensitive to your needs, and it is our goal to make you feel comfortable visiting our practice while providing the best care possible.
Your first visit is all about you — your comfort, your happiness, and your health.
During your first visit, we will review your dental and medical history, and take dental films of your teeth and mouth. We will also assess your sleep habits with a questionnaire to look for signs of sleep disordered breathing. One of our hygienists will perform an intraoral exam to screen for any abnormalities of the oral tissues and they will evaluate your teeth and gums for any signs of gingivitis or periodontal disease. They will discuss the type of cleaning recommended for you.
Dr. Roberts will then meet with you and perform a head and neck exam and cancer screening, review the intraoral exam, sleep screening, and dental films and then check every tooth for any cavities or early signs of tooth decay. She then will discuss any findings and help you create your own individual treatment plan, and answer any questions that you may have.
We understand that you have a busy schedule, so when you’re preparing for your visit, please remember that your appointments can last between 45 and 90 minutes. Make sure that you are aware of this, as we want to ensure we give you the best possible experience that we can.
What should I bring on my first visit?
Bring your smile, but also remember to bring your completed paperwork and your insurance card with you to your appointment. If you have any questions about your insurance coverage, it is advised to verify with your employer before your appointment. Our office staff is happy to help with any questions you may have.

Preventive dental care is important throughout your life, no matter your age. By practicing good oral hygiene at home and scheduling regular checkups, you can help keep your smile bright and healthy for many years to come, we hope for life! Here are a few simple ways that you can prevent the build-up of plaque and cavities:
Brush your teeth at least twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Use fluoride toothpaste to remove food particles and plaque from the tooth surfaces.
Clean between your teeth by flossing at least once a day. You can also use a mouthwash to help kill bacteria and freshen your breath. Decay-causing bacteria can linger between teeth where toothbrush bristles can’t reach. Floss and mouthwash will help remove plaque and food particles from between the teeth and under the gum line.
Eat a balanced diet, and try to avoid extra-sugary treats. Nutritious foods such as raw vegetables, plain yogurt, cheese, or fruit can help keep your smile healthy.
Remember to schedule regular checkups every six months for a professional teeth cleaning.
If you play sports, be sure to ask us about special mouthguards designed to protect your smile.
If it’s been six months since your last dental checkup, then it’s time to contact us and schedule your next appointment! The goal of the appointment is to make it as painless and as comfortable as possible. As a new patient you will notice very quickly that we are a different dental office. You will see top-of-the-line equipment and a great dental staff that care about you as a human being. To us, you are not a number but an individual that has a life and has choices to make. We do understand that you could choose a dental company anywhere else, but you have chosen to give Healthy Smiles a try. We are very thankful that you have trusted us to work and clean something as precious as your teeth.
Will I receive anything, you know, for FREE?
Thank you so much for asking this question! Being a phenomenal dental office isn’t enough. We need to get our new patients into the door and we want you to become a fan of us. We want you to refer us. Yes, we are like any other company, when it comes to referrals. Here is something different with Healthy Smiles. A patient who comes into the office for the first time will receive a FREE teeth whitening kit on their first visit. Now, a family will receive only 1 kit – NOT every single person in the family – although we do sell teeth whitening kits. This is an $80.00 value that you will receive for free!
Healthy Smiles wanted to offer this because we understand that you have a choice. We believe in our office so much that we are essentially giving away a free product for you to try us out. Where else would you get that from? There aren’t very many companies that believe in their product or service so much that they are willing to give away a product. Now, there are certain stipulations that apply. As mentioned earlier, these stipulations are that you have to be a first time patient, you will only receive 1 kit per family, and you must leave us a positive Google review before you leave. Those are the three things that you must know before attending Healthy Smiles. It is a fairly simple request and we ask that you are aware of this when attending Healthy Smiles. Our team is so excited to get to meet you and hopefully your family! Give us a call today at 580-237-0694 and get your appointment on the books as soon as possible or you can submit a contact us form and one of our wonderful team members will give you a call and get you on our calendar to see the dentist.
